I’m removing Digg’s RSS feed from my feed reader.
I love Digg.com. I love the idea of user-voted news, and the amazing collaboration that Digg represents. However I also read my RSS subscriptions ‘river of news’ style, with all articles in one long stream in date order. In this mode, the huge volume of Digg front page stories is massively over-represented, with Digg articles popping into the stream so frequently that they pollute the stream of interesting, detailed posts with what amounts to a giant stream of drivel and YouTube links.
The Digg front page feed also leads to heaps of duplication. Anything worth reading on Digg tends to be in one of my other feeds within 30 minutes either side of the Digg post anyway.
So yeah, sorry Digg. Great site, good for people who don’t have an active, populated RSS reader in the first place, but not for me.
